I am grateful for strong, healthy children and that we have what we need to keep them that way...good food, medicine, shelter, clothing. I know it sounds basic, but I think we all take those things for granted in this prosperous time. Even in our economic recession, we have it pretty good! I just got done reading Kristin Hannah's Winter Garden and it made me so grateful for what we have. It was a REALLY good book about family and sisters and their mother, but it told the survivor story of a lady who lived in Leningrad during the time of Stalin and the German (Hitler) siege of Russia. The city was cut off from supplies and went through a record cold winter. 100s of 1000s of people died from starvation. It was so sad! Makes me want to hug my children tighter and give them more love. Love is so important to give them, but if you can't give them their basic needs, love won't give it to them. So I'm grateful that I can meet all their needs AND give them all the LOVE I can.
